seventeen inhalations (2022)
video
'Seventeen inhalations' invites the viewer to synchronize their breathing with an artificial organ moving on the screen. The expansion and contraction rate of this digital entity is deliberately slower than that of a human body at rest; if attained, this biological alignment forces a reduction in the viewer's breathing and heart rate.
The project operates on the principle of interpersonal synchrony—the physiological coupling that occurs when bodies intuitively mirror one another during close interaction. By replacing a human counterpart with a synthetic simulation, the piece tests the limits of empathy and biological resonance, transforming the screen into an active external pacemaker.
